About this image
The Pool of Winds is situated on the Washington side of the Columbia Gorge.
The water fall comes to life as Hardy Creek funnels into a chamber in the cliff. Water rushes down a slot in the rock, swirling around a fallen log in its path. This creates a deep pool with quirky wind patterns all around. You can see this unique spot through a narrow 10-foot-wide opening in the rock. The day was cloudy, and an old-school paper negative process was used to capture this scene.
